Mr L Ovenden - International Co-ordinator

Mr Ovenden's job as International Co-ordinator involves overseeing the whole organisation of USU and Africa week and ensuring everything is working safely and effectively. He is keen to be involved in USU in every way possible! That's backstage, front of house (and maybe even on stage!). He plans to get as many teachers involved as he can, including performing, and also organise many other events outside of Africa Week.

Grace Goodwin - Swing Night Team  swing@usukenilworth.org

The Swing Night team (Grace Goodwin, Elsa Richards, Holly Gurney, Ellie Pritchard, Brooke Ellershaw, May McConnell, Izzy Perry) plan and run the dinner evening. From choosing acts, to planning the catering and decorations, the Swing Night team communicate with a lot of other departments in order to make the night successful.

Catherine Beattie – Act Team    act@usukenilworth.org

The Act team (Catherine Beattie, Sienna Wilkins, Katie Taylor, Ellie-Mae Sutton, Melissa Curtis, Imogen Asquith) organise everything to do with urban night acts! They take part in auditions, choosing acts, creating the act list and mentoring acts all the way up until the shows!

Sam Salter - Chair

Sam's job can involve absolutely anything big or small, as the role of the chair is to oversee all aspects of USU 2019. Sam's aim is to raise as much money as possible for USU and to ensure the shows are a success!

Brooke Ellershaw - Vice Chair

Brooke's job will involve supporting and aiding Sam in organising the events, as well as working with the team to allow everything to run smoothly. Their aim will be to ensure that Africa Week and USU are successful in order to raise as much money and awareness as possible.

Izzy Perry - Stage Manager

Izzy's job is to organise everything technical be it from the lights to the speakers, the cameras to the microphones. She manages the setup and running of the event and makes sure the crew are operating safely. Her job usually starts the week after the previous USU, spending a full year planning!

Arianna Wallbank - Business Director  business@usukenilworth.org

Arianna's job involves contacting local businesses and charities that we can work with, and raise support for USU. She also organises raffle prizes for Swing Night. 

Technical Crew

James Calver - Technical Co-Ordinator

James' job is to organise everything technical be it from the lights to the speakers, the cameras to the microphones. He manages the setup and running of the event and makes sure the crew are operating safely. He also oversees all the technical, stage and back stage crew. He organises all their training as well as being on hand on the nights to support the committee with all their show desires to create a professional and seamless show. James also has a key role insuring USU is a safe show.

As heads of technical departments, they design, order and assemble the lighting, sound and vision equipment for USU. Along with a team of technical crew (tekkies), they make USU look and sound amazing!

Izzy Perry - Stage Manager    stagemanager@usukenilworth.org

Izzy works alongside James, making sure that the show runs as smooth as possible. She manages the backstage teams and cast, safety, show timings, and other logistics of the urban and swing night performances. Izzy says that if she's doing her job right, then you shouldn't be able to notice her!

May McConnell - Deputy Stage Manager

As Deputy Stage Manager, May's job is to work with Izzy, completing any extra tasks, and helping to manage the backstage teams, as well as the physical logistics of the show.
